Let’s Do It Again!

It was great to see John and Donna from Scotland again this year!  They took TWO airboat rides with us last year, and came back again this year for another airboat ride with us!  We want to get to know you, and we hope you’ll come back and see us when you’re in Florida again!

It’s so wonderful to have repeat passengers.  Here are some of John’s photos from the “FLORIDA CRACKER” airboat ride:

Take Us On Another Airboat Tour!

We received some more beautiful photos from one of our passengers – these were taken on our 2 hour “FLORIDA CRACKER” airboat ride deep into the swamp… we’ll take you where the locals go!

Here’s David’s email:

Hello, sorry it took a bit, but I selected some of my better pictures for you. It was a great ride and I wanted to thank you again. We’re already discussing doing another tour when we come back to Florida.

Frequently Asked Questions about Alligator Nesting and Gator Eggs

It’s August in Florida, and we’ve found several alligator nests.  Our airboat passengers have a lot of questions about nests and alligator reproduction, so we thought we’d share some of our most frequently asked questions with you:

How old does a female alligator have to be to lay eggs?  Female gators reach sexual maturity at about 6 feet, and she may be 10 to 15 years old by the time she reaches this size.  Females will build a mound nest of debris and other vegetation and lay 30-50 eggs in late June or early July.

How long does it take for the gator eggs to hatch?  Gator eggs will incubate 60-65 days and they will begin to hatch in late August and early September.  Of the average nest clutch size of about 35 eggs, only about 20% will survive.
