An Owl and a Coyote – Oh My!

We saw this absolutely adorable owl on our “Florida Cracker” Airboat Ride yesterday in the beautiful Dead River.  We stopped in our favorite scenic spot to take some photos for our passengers, and there in the tree, right next to the airboat was an owl watching us!

Another cool thing happened on the same trip – we saw a coyote!  That was a rarity, and I hope to receive some photos from our passengers to share with you of the coyote… keep your fingers crossed that they turned out!

We stopped at the Yacht Club and here’s a rare photo of Captain Harold and Debi on land (instead of in the airboat) in front of our favorite live oak tree:

A Special Trip and Special Smiles for Sara (she’s Special too!)

sara

Yesterday we took Sara and her family on an airboat ride… they’re here in the Orlando/Kissimmee area with the “Make a Wish” Foundation www.wish.org We love to make kids smile, and it was extra special to make Sara smile today!  She and her sister Emma loved seeing all the beautiful birds and of course alligators!

At one point, I thought a flock of birds was going to follow Sara on the airboat for the whole trip!   Mom and Dad were happy to escape the crowds for a day and see the real Florida in all it’s beauty.

Hope ya’ll have a wonderful time while you’re here and safe travels home to Canada.  Here are some pictures:

Cypress Trees and Spanish Moss - See it on a Swamp Tour!

The beautiful Cypress Trees we see on our airboat rides always amazes our passengers.  These beautiful southern trees are draped with hanging Spanish moss gently blowing in the wind – making It seem as if you are magically transported to a prehistoric era.  In fact, some of our passengers tell us that these cypress heads and swamp bottoms make them feel as though they are in a scene from a scary movie!

Cypress tree roots grow upward and are called “knees”.  These Cypress knees provide stability to the trees in the muddy swampland.   We see these incredibility beautiful trees on all of our airboat rides.  My favorite Cypress head is found on the beautiful Dead River during our FLORIDA CRACKER airboat rides.  There is a cypress tree that has knees almost 5 feet high!  You won’t want to miss seeing this incredible sight.
